Me and Sam will be teaching Lindy Hop and other dances from the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s every Wednesday night at Petersham Bowling Club in Sydney’s Inner West, starting at 7.30pm.
Buddy Guy’s music does things to me. Seriously- I just- I can’t even use my words.
Sugar Pie Desanto’s version is pretty cool too. It can be found along with some other cool tracks on this blues playlist. Makes me think I should start DJing blues events.
I came third in the recent ASDC 2011 Jack & Jill. Liam, my partner in the video nabbed first! Check out wikipedia for more on the Jack & Jill competition format. Basically you enter as an individual, you don’t know who you’ll be partnered with and you don’t know what song you’ll get. I love Jack & Jill because it involves minimum preparation and maximum fun because it’s social dancing!
Here is the all-skate video, I’m hanging out in the back.
Another favourite from ILHC 2011. I’m kind of getting sucked into watching dancing video after dancing video on YouTube at the moment so there will be plenty of videos to come.
Possibly the most entertaining solo jazz competition I have ever seen! She is totally on fire! I went to a similar, all-styles urban dance battle on the weekend (just to watch, my hip-hop is beginner to non existant!) and it was really fun! The instant knock-out/king of the hill format feels kind of casual but really exciting at the same time.
These guys are the Lindy Hop A-TEAM! Gosh they’re good! So good I just watched this video about 6 times in a row without blinking.
Highlights: 1) So much musicality my brain is about to ‘splode. 2) Lindy Hop videos now come in high definition so I can see their lovely faces. So great! 3) All of it.
I really like the Classic Lindy division of ILHC. I enjoy musical, creative choreography that doesn’t rely on speed or tricks. Not that speedy, tricky stuff isn’t awesome! It is!
I spend a big chunk of my time dancing around doing the Lindy Hop and related dances so I thought I would start with some. Welcome to my internet place!
My name is Alice and this is a place where I collect the things that my brain likes to chew on. This is a collection of my experiences, what inspires me and sometimes what my brain spits back out after a good chew.
